My revelatory journey

As someone who has been walking the path of self-exploration and development for some time, Lea came to me curious about how the Journey Book Experience works and what support it offers its users.

I invited Lea to try the Journey Book in return for her sharing some of her journey here. As a tool to help others get a real sense of what is on offer in the Journey Book Experience.

Lea reported feeling life had lots of positives right now, despite being in the midst of Lockdowns. She had lots of “tabs” open in her mind and had concerns about her tendency toward living on the brink of burnout. It was essential to her that she continues her work on her mindset and connecting with kindred souls on a similar path.

Lea had a history of anxiety, panic attacks, chronic illness and frustrations with societal attempts to get her to fit within particular boxes. Amongst her main challenges was her tendency to focus on the “then” rather than being present in the “now”.

I allowed Lea to set the pace of her Journey Book and her tendency toward a fast pace to the point of overwhelm became clear for her to see. Captured before her eyes in her words and emphasised by the speed she got through her “weekly” instalment within a day. I highlighted how this pace pattern led to her missing out on sitting in the now and sitting with the questions a little more. It gave Lea a gentle nudge her back towards self-care and savouring the moments of living.

Once we’d established this deeper level of trust, I guided Lea in looking back at experiences that shaped her and contributed to forming patterns that now hold her back from living a free and easier life.

Here is what Lea wanted to share about her Journey Book experience:

The Journey Book Experience is a thing of beauty. When Solas invited me to try this for myself, I was unsure of what the journey involved and what I might get from it. My intention was to amplify the work I was doing in a group programme elsewhere and really focus on an abundance mindset, during a time of restriction. The Journey Book, to me, is like having a diary that talks back to you. Some might think of it like a benevolent form of Tom Riddle’s diary in Harry Potter. Others might see it as intense, guided journaling. It’s also a bit like automatic writing at times – are those words really mine? I had no idea I was feeling some of those things until I read them back! As an introvert and having tried various talking therapies over the years, the ability to access a mindset tool that I could use at my own pace without having to push through struggles with verbalising feelings was absolute GOLD. I got to dig deep into what I REALLY want for my life and realised that it is all about ease, simplicity and quiet.

I had thought I was a reflective person previously, but the Journey Book has given me a whole new level of insight! This experience helped shine a light on some areas I still need to work on and gave me a space to talk out some of the things that make up part of who I am, in a way that I wouldn’t usually. Asking for help isn’t something I find very comfortable and accessing it in this way made it so much easier for me to not feel like I was lacking in some way.

I hope I am more open to surprise support in future. I know I’ll be revisiting this work at regular intervals and look forward to seeing where I’m at when Solas checks in with me in 6 months’ time – that ought to keep me on the path!”
